Time to pause and reflect

Sara Marugan writes the guest opinion column in issue 1073 of L'Independent de Gràcia (24 July 2026): «Temps de fer una pausa i reflexionar» (Time to pause and reflect).

She reflects on how society pushes everyone to think alike — fashions, big socioeconomic powers, those who want nobody to stand out — and celebrates the daring people who had an idea and made it real: from the Wright brothers, mocked for dreaming of a flying machine, to Gaudí, criticised for La Pedrera until time proved him right.

The piece closes with the famous Mark Twain line that gives it its title: «Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect».
